Pathology Laboratory

An integrated “Clinic Pathology Laboratory” service in the real sense of the words is now available in Turkey through the synergistic efforts of the Central Pathology Laboratory, Labmed and Genetic Laboratory.

Established in July 2006, Acıbadem Pathology Laboratory has been staffed with a pathology team consisting of specialists equipped with sufficient education, knowledge, experience and dedication to their work and they can provide the highest level of service available in this field.

The “Central Pathology Laboratory” founded at Acıbadem boasts specialists who are members of faculty in different specialty areas such as the nervous system, respiratory system, blood diseases, pathology of skin diseases. The labroratory performs these procedures successfully.

Central Pathology Laboratory processes all kinds of tissue samples and bodily fluids with its highly-qualified staff and physical infrastructure of the highest standards, using automation systems which minimize human errors. Apart from the usual methods, samples are examined in accordance with the current scientific developments using histochemistry, immunohistochemistry, immunofleurescent, FISH, flow cytometry, PCR, fluid based cytology and similar supplementary techniques. Furthermore, all centers have been using the telepathology method, the intra-operative fast pathologic test (frozen section) method which greatly contributes to surgeon’s treatment decision during the surgery.

Telepathology system

The “telepathology system” has been established among all branches of the group and central Pathology Laboratory with the aim of improving the standard pathology services. It allows for the consultation by the specialist group in the Central Pathology Laboratory of those practices performed in the laboratories of Acıbadem Hospitals.

As a part of prospective internal quality system, a certain portion of some important tests are examined by more than one pathologists and compliance to standards and scientific sensitivity is assessed. Allowing for the practice of dual signature, this system increases reliability on the part of the patients and physicians alike.

Fourteen pathology specialists specialized in the sub-branches of hematopathology, neuropathology, cytopathology, respiratory system pathology and dermatopathology make up the staff of Acıbadem Pathology Laboratory.
