Acıbadem Healthcare Group is taking determined steps toward a sustainable future by combining its pioneering, quality-driven approach in healthcare with a strong sense of environmental responsibility. As a key part of this commitment, the Solar Power Plant (SPP) project makes a significant contribution to reducing the Group’s carbon footprint while improving energy efficiency.

Built on a 900-decare site in Eskişehir, Acıbadem’s SPP facility has an installed capacity of 85 MWp and an annual generation capacity of approximately 130 million kWh. It has been designed to supply 80% of the total electricity needs of our hospitals and medical centers.

The electricity generated at the SPP is converted to high voltage and fed into Turkey’s national power grid. In this way, a large portion of the energy demand of Acıbadem Hospitals and Medical Centers is met through renewable sources, while also providing a sustainable contribution to the country’s energy system.

Environmental Impact and Carbon Reduction

Solar energy is one of the cleanest energy sources, producing no CO₂ emissions during electricity generation. Considering that electricity in Turkey is still largely produced from fossil fuels, investments in renewable energy play a critical role in reducing environmental impacts.

Thanks to the electricity produced at Acıbadem’s SPP facility, fossil fuel–based electricity generation is displaced, preventing approximately 65,000 tons of CO₂ emissions each year. This environmental benefit is equivalent to the impact of planting around 3 million trees.
