Audiology Unit adopts interdisciplinary approach to hearing and balance disorders and cooperates with specialists of other departments for diagnosis, treatment and rehabilitation. VIDEONYSTAGMOGRAPHY:
Videonystagmography (VNG) is a system that consists of various sub-group tests and it is designed to investigate balance disorders in detail.
Spontaneous Nystagmus Test:
Spontaneous nystagmus tests are performed to record eye movements without a stimulus.
Positional Tests:
Positional tests record the patient in different positions. Various canals of bilateral inner ears are evaluated separately for specific diagnosis of Benign Paroxysmal Positional Vertigo (BPPV) which is colloquially called “Crystal Displacement”.
Gaze Test, Saccade Test, Optokinetic Tests:
Valuable data may be gained, especially for differential diagnosis of central vertigo, by monitoring eye movements and conducting nystagmus investigations using various stimuli.
Caloric Irrigation Test:
Caloric irrigation test is used for differential diagnosis and determining the involved side of body through direct stimulation of vestibular system using water or air with controlled temperature.
VEMP:
Vestibular Evoked Myogenic Potentials is an electrophysiological measurement which is used for differential diagnosis of Vertigo and to test saccule and its afferent pathways.
ABR (BERA):
Auditory Brainstem Response is an advanced audiologic evaluation used for identifying type and stage of hearing loss and evaluating function of cochlear nerve in children and adults who cannot cooperate with behavioral tests.
Otoacoustic Emission Test (TEOAE and DPOAE):
OAE is an objective test which evaluates function of external hair cells in the inner ear.
Tympanometry and Acoustic Reflex Tests:
They are objective tests which are used for evaluating the middle ear.
Pediatric and Adult Audiometry:
Pure sound and speech tests for adult patients and free zone and play audiometry tests for pediatric patients can be performed in large IAC rooms with sound isolation and free zone setup. Moreover, functions of hearing aid are evaluated in free zone.
