In Endocrine Surgery Department of Acıbadem Healthcare Group, endocrinologists and general surgeons deal with medical and surgical treatment of diseases that begin in or involve thyroid gland, parathyroid glands, pancreas and adrenal glands.

Diagnostic and therapeutic services are provided through a multidisciplinary approach by radiologists, pathologists, nuclear medicine specialists and oncologists.

Diagnosis and Treatment Services Available in Endocrine Surgery Department

In Endocrine Surgery Department, general surgeons and endocrinologists evaluate and treat thyroid diseases (goiter, hypothyroidism, Graves disease, thyroid nodules and thyroid cancers), parathyroid diseases (hyperparathyroidism, hypoparathyroidism, parathyroid gland cancers), surgical endocrine diseases of pancreas (insulinoma, gastrinoma, glucagonoma, VIPoma, Zollinger-Ellison syndrome, carcinoid syndrome) and adrenal gland diseases (Cushing syndrome, Addison syndrome, pheochromocytoma, incidentaloma, adrenocortical cancers).

Fine needle aspiration biopsy (FNAB) is performed for differential diagnosis of thyroid nodules. Laparoscopic techniques or open surgery is used for surgical treatment. Continuous recurrent nerve monitoring, special tissue cutters and sealers and vascular sealers are used to reduce risk of hoarseness after thyroid and parathyroid operations. Laparoscopic approach is preferred for surgical treatment of endocrine tumors located in adrenal glands and pancreas.

At diagnostic phase, we cooperate with Radiology and Nuclear Medicine Departments and interventional procedures are carried out, whenever needed. Patients with diagnosis of cancer are discussed in a council of physicians from relevant departments and oncologic treatment is planned thereafter.
