3 Tesla MR

Overview
3 Tesla MRI is an imaging device. 3 Tesla MRI creates images with higher quality thanks to its strong imaging capabilities, but a scan takes similar time with 1.5 Tesla MRI.
It is used to scan whole body, especially in fields of neurology, orthopedics and cardiology.
It is similar to a usual MRI scan. The patient wears appropriate clothes and lies on the treatment table that can move in a wide range of axes of space. Patients are instructed to hold still.
What is 3 Tesla MR?
3 Tesla MR (Magnetic Resonance), also known as 3T MRI, is a magnetic resonance imaging device operating at a magnetic field strength of 3 Tesla. Tesla is the unit that measures magnetic field intensity; thus, a 3 Tesla MRI provides a significantly stronger magnetic field compared to standard 1.5 Tesla devices commonly used in medical imaging.
The primary benefit of 3T MRI lies in its enhanced image resolution and clarity. Due to the higher magnetic field strength, it produces images with greater detail, allowing physicians to detect subtle abnormalities, lesions, or changes in tissues that might otherwise be difficult to visualize.
3 Tesla MRI is particularly important for brain, spine, joint, and cardiovascular imaging. Its precise imaging capabilities assist in diagnosing conditions like multiple sclerosis, stroke, tumors, cartilage injuries, and various vascular disorders. It is widely used in clinical practice, especially in detailed neurological and musculoskeletal evaluations.
However, a stronger magnetic field can introduce challenges such as increased sensitivity to patient movement and artifacts. Certain implants or metallic objects might not be compatible with 3T MRI scanners. Therefore, careful patient screening is essential before performing a 3 Tesla MR scan.
