Diagnosis and Treatment Services in Orthopedics and Traumatology Department

We face trauma mostly with a surprise such as fall, sports injury, occupational accident or traffic accident. The damage ranges from a simple soft tissue injury to fragmented fractures of large bones depending on severity of trauma.

It is very crucial that the trauma patient is admitted and first interventions are made by a specialist.

Approaches and surgical techniques for treatment of fractures are continuously updated. The aim is to help patient return to daily life in shortest time possible without any problem.

Arthroscopy and Sports Injuries (Knee-shoulder)

Arthroscopic knee surgeries include meniscectomy or repair of meniscus; arthroscopic reconstruction surgeries for injuries of anterior cruciate ligament, posterior cruciate ligament, and collateral ligaments as well as combined ligament injuries; arthroscopic microfracture or osteochondral cartilage transplant for cartilage injuries, while arthroscopic Bankart repair is performed for dislocated shoulder, subacromial impingement syndrome; shoulder joint osteoarthritis; excision and repair of labral tear; cartilage surgeries and rotator cuff repair.

Spinal Surgery

Spinal Surgery deals with congenital or acquired scoliosis and kyphosis, Scheuermann kyphosis, spondylolisthesis, spinal stenosis, problems of aging spine, ankylosing spondylitis, osteoporosis, fractures, dislocations, spinal injuries and spinal infections.

Pediatric Orthopedics and Traumatology

The unit deals with follow-up and treatment of congenital dysplasia of hip for children younger than 16 years of age, pes equinovarus, cerebral paralysis, myelomeningocele, congenital deformities, pes planus, tumors, developmental disorders and fractures.

Foot and Ankle Surgery

The unit deals with treatment of degenerative diseases of foot and ankle, sports injuries, fractures, ligament ruptures and cartilage injuries.

Orthopedic Oncology

Medical and surgical treatments are available for any and all tumors of extremities, especially including all bones, muscles and soft tissues.

Shoulder and Elbow Surgery

Arthroscopic and open surgical management of arthrosis of shoulder and elbow, rotator cuff diseases, recurrent dislocations, diseases secondary to overuse or trauma is performed.

Arthrosis

The unit deals with treatment of gonarthrosis and coxarthrosis, hip-knee prostheses, revision surgeries for infected prosthesis and laxity, and periacetabular and high tibial reconstructive bone surgeries.

Extremity Surgery

The unit deals especially with leg-arm lengthening surgeries, while bone deformities, non-union of fractures, bone infections and external fixator applications are also the areas of focus.

Hip Fractures

These conditions develop after traumas especially in elderly patients and they require treatment.

Hand and Upper Extremity Surgery

The unit deals with planning and performing diagnosis and treatment of disorders that begin in or involve hands, wrists, elbows and arms.

Clinical activities of Upper Extremity Surgery Clinic cover evaluation, coordination, diagnosis and treatment of acute soft tissue traumas that involve upper extremity (tendon ruptures, peripheral nerve injuries, skin and muscle losses secondary to injury and crash etc.), amputations (replantations, revascularizations using microsurgery techniques), and fractured bones of hands, wrists, forearms, elbows and arms.

Upper Extremity Surgery

Wrist-elbow arthroscopy, small joint prosthesis, tendon transfers and microsurgical tissue transfers are performed at our unit for late reconstruction of hand surgery, after traumas and arthritis, treatment of congenital neuromuscular diseases and tumors.
