Overview

DSA (Digital Subtraction Angiography) is used to image all blood vessels of body; vascular diseases are diagnosed over these detailed images.

It is used to detect diseases, such stenosis, aneurysm (balloon-like dilatations of blood vessels), malformation, fistula etc., in blood vessels of brain, abdomen, skin, arms and legs, or in other worlds, the whole body.

For Digital Subtraction Angiography, a catheter is inserted into an artery and blood vessels are imaged very clearly, after a contrast medium is instilled. Radiation dose is minimized by special technologic methods. A special technique, called Vaso CT, acquires very detailed images of even thinnest blood vessels by administering very low amount of contrast medium into a vein.

This way, contrast medium-related risks are minimized. Risk of bleeding is decreased by treating the aneurysms. In addition to diagnostic use, the function of balloon dilatation helps restoration of target caliber in stenotic blood vessels.
