Spinal Fracture Treatment

First, a specialist determines whether the spine can carry out its regular load bearing function, and whether there is nervous injury. In cases where there are no neurological injuries and no problems in the load bearing function of the spine (stable patients), the main approach is pain treatment. Based on the case, short periods of bed rest and stabilizing corsets may be recommended. However if the integrity of the spine is compromised by the fracture and it has lost its capacity to bear loads (unstable patients) and especially if there is  partial or total paralysis, the surgical treatment is administered (apart from some minor exceptions) absolutely.
