Prof. Ayşe Sağduyu Kocaman graduated from the Hacettepe University Medical Faculty in 1985. After completing her mandatory service at the Ankara Numune Hospital and İzmir Atatürk Training and Research Hospital Emergency Rooms for 2 years she started her specialty degree in Neurology at the Ege University Medical Faculty in 1987. In 1990 she worked in the field of Neuro-immunology at the Oregon Health Sciences University, Portland, Oregon for six months. After completing her specialty education in 1991, Prof. Ayşe Sağduyu Kocaman continued at the same clinic’s Neurology Intensive Care, Brain and Vascular Diseases and Multiple Sclerosis Polyclinics as a specialist. After achieving an associate professor title in 1995 and a professor title in 2002, she served as a Faculty Board of Directors Member and Neurological Sciences Education Coordinator in 2003- 2006.
Between 2009 and 2011 Prof. Ayşe Sağduyu Kocaman undertook the Chair of the Ege University, Medical Faculty, Neurology Department.
As of June 2011 she started working in her position at the Acibadem Maslak Hospital Neurology Department and continues to be a Teaching Staff Member at the Acibadem University Neurology Department.
Prof. Sağduyu Kocaman is the Founding Chairman of the Turkish Neurology Society Intensive Care Study Group and a side branch expert in intensive care. Her main areas of work are neurological intensive care and emergency neurological disorders and central nervous system demyelinating disorders like cerebrovascular diseases and multiple sclerosis.
